A Blues Extravaganza: Unforgettable Weekend at XXIV Frank Festival, Torreperogil

The small town of Torreperogil in Jaén recently played host to an electrifying blues experience at the XXIV Frank rock and blues Festival held in the enchanting Auditorio Municipal Torres Oscuras. Organised by Jose Luis RockandBlues and no1 music fan Sponsered by Schweppes and Cruzcampo with help from Torreperogil ayuntiamento and Jaen Diputación. Over the course of the three-night event, attendees were treated to a diverse lineup of exceptional talent that left a lasting impression and makes this small festival punch well above its weight.


Friday Night: The Opening Notes


Kicking off the festival with a bang, were husband and wife duo from Marbella featuring solo artist Hot Nasho on guitar and vocals Patricia Cumplido on drums. The Hill Frequencies set the stage on fire with their dynamic sound that effortlessly blended classic blues with a modern twist. Their energetic performance got the crowd's toes tapping and set the perfect tone for the night.


Los Deltonos with their original trio line-up with Sergio "Tutu" Rodríguez on bass continued the momentum with their soulful tunes and tight-knit melodies. Their passionate delivery showcased their deep-rooted understanding of blues and rock, making them a standout act of the evening.


The spotlight of the night, European Blues Challenge winners Noa and the Hell Drinkers, took the stage by storm. With Noa's powerful vocals and stage presence plus the bands masterful command over their instruments painted a vivid picture of their musical prowess. The fusion of blues and rock elements created an unforgettable auditory experience that had the entire audience entranced.


Saturday Night: A Rhythmic Journey


Saturday's lineup was nothing short of extraordinary.With a act that i know personally Granadian El Oso de Benalua y sus Sabandijas delivered a vibrant opening act, infusing a dose of Latin flair into their bluesy performance. The unique fusion of styles left the crowd craving for more.


With his first spanish festival Connor Selby, a true virtuoso, took centre stage next. His skillful guitar work and soulful vocals demonstrated why he's a rising star in the blues world. His ability to connect with the audience on a personal level was a testament to his genuine passion for his craft and hopefully more visits to Spain in the future.


The night reached its crescendo with the headline act, Ghalia Volt Band. Their high-octane performance was an explosion of energy, weaving elements of rock, funk, and blues into a seamless tapestry of sound. Ghalia Volt's raw energy and stage presence left an indelible mark on the audience, ensuring that the night would be etched into their memories forever.


Sunday: A Soulful Finale


As the weekend drew to a close, the festivities continued at Doble Cero. Contact Covers Band serenaded the audience with familiar tunes, putting their own unique spin on beloved classics. The atmosphere was one of nostalgia and celebration, showcasing the timeless appeal of blues music.


Wrapping up the festival was Santo Custodio, delivering a performance that captured the essence of blues as a genre deeply rooted in emotion and storytelling. Their soul-stirring melodies provided the perfect closing act for a weekend filled with musical magic.


In conclusion, the Frank Festival in Torreperogil proved to be a blues lover's paradise, offering a diverse range of acts that spanned the spectrum of blues and its related genres.
